SharePoint Premium Advanced Management Deep Dive

SharePoint Online

SharePooint Preimium is not a Product – it’s a Suite. It consists of a (new) bunch of features – see below.

Restricted Access Control (RAC)

Restricted access control prevent users (directly or within specific security groups) from seeing content on specific sites. Activating this feature on a site makes it impossible to access flagged sites for these users (although content can be shared via the UI, it cannot be accessed).

Restricted Content Discovery (RCD)

Restricted content discovery is an advanced feature to exclude access for content being retrieved by Search or Copilot. Documents that were already accessed, remain accessible as “related documents” for the next 30 days – although they will never show up in Search or Copilot results.

Conditional Access policies

Now as SharePoint admins, recent actions on sites can be accessed through the sites admin panel. By retrieving change history reports for users, sites and dates, an admin can now gather detailed insights into site activities without the need of having access to the Unified Audit Log.

Site Lifecycle management

Site lifecycle management enables track the lifecycle state of sites by defining according defined policies. Site Lifecycle management Policies can be set / filtered by sensitivity labels, creation source or retention policies and retention holds (scopes to define excluded sites are also allowed). Define which kind of notifications (as well as following actions) should be triggered upon reaching the end of the LCM process.

Site ownership policies ensure that sites have a minimom required admins / owners site admins or owners. They are also configurable in almost the same manner as LCM policies.
